SALT LAKE CITY — The Orem Tigers took another step towards the state championship by taking down the Kearns Cougars behind a big game from Dalton Nixon.

Orem played stingy defense and held Kearns to 23 points in the final three quarters to get a 48-37 victory. Nixon had 12 points at half for the Tigers and finished with 18 pointa and 12 rebounds.

After a big first quarter, where Kearns led 14-12, the Tigers calmed down and the buckets were hard to come by the Cougars. Kearns ended up shooting 25 percent from the field while the Tigers shot 48 percent.

Bushmnn Ebet paced the Cougars with 11 points at half, finishing with 16 and seven rebounds. Dacraeon Vines finished with 10 for Kearns.

Quinn Peters scored 14 for the Tigers who will take on Springville on Friday.
