SALT LAKE CITY — Mountain View gave Bounitful its best shot Wednesday, but the Braves withstood every punch to advance to the semifinals of the Class 4A Boys State High Tournament with a hard-fought 61-46 win. The Braves are the clear favorites to hoist the 4A trophy Saturday, but midway through the third quarter at the Huntsman Center, nothing was assured.
Mountain View senior Spencer Conrad scored six points in a 8-0 run to give the Bruins a one-point lead. Bountiful quickly answered starting with Sam Merrill's fast-break dunk to get the lead back for the Braves.
Jordan Bleak and Zac Seljaas scored two buckets each and in a matter of minutes in a 10-0 Bountiful run to take control of the game.
Mountain View never recovered.
Seljaas finished with a team-high 19 points and Merrill added 16. Bountiful advances to Friday's semifinals to meet Olympus that defeated Highland in the second quarterfinal game of the day.
