FORT WORTH, Texas — Utah gymnastics’ Georgia Dabritz became the NCAA uneven bars national champion after scoring 9.9625 in the individual competition Sunday.

“It feels great. I can’t think of a better way to end my career,” said Dabritz.

The senior is Utah’s first NCAA champion since 2007 when Ashley Postell won the balance beam title. In 2006, Kristina Baskett won the bars title.

Dabritz, who ranked first on the event in the regular season, was favored to claim the title. She scored 10.0s in the semifinals and Super Six, making her the first gymnast in history to earn back-to-back perfect scores in both championship competitions.

The champion also competed on floor, where she scored 9.9125, placing fifth. Freshman Kari Lee joined Dabritz on floor, scoring 9.6125 to put herself in 14th. Lee also qualified for vault. She finished fifth overall after a 9.875 performance.

“It was fun having Georgia right there by my side,” said Lee. “It was a long three-day weekend, but I think being out here was a good way to start my career.”
