CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Wyatt Walker had 22 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks and Samford ended a six-game losing streak by beating The Citadel 95-86 Monday night.
Walker scored eight straight Samford points down the stretch, capped by a dunk for an 89-81 lead with 42 seconds left.
Matt Rose and Christen Cunningham added 17 points apiece for Samford (12-14, 3-10 Southern). Cunningham had eight assists to become the sixth player in program history to record back-to-back seasons with 100-plus assists.
Rose made three 3-pointers in less than two minutes to give Samford a 77-72 lead with 4:02 left.
Derrick Henry led The Citadel (10-15, 3-9) with 22 points and Warren Sledge hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points. Zane Najdawi added 18 points and four blocks to tie the program mark for most blocked shots in a season (46) by a freshman.
The Citadel made 13 3-pointers to set a program record for total made 3s in a season (281).
