DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A court in the United Arab Emirates has sentenced four people to death in absentia after finding them guilty of involvement with the Islamic State group.

The official WAM news agency said the State Security Division of the Federal Supreme Court issued the sentences Sunday. Six other defendants being tried on related charges were issued sentences of three to ten years behind bars.

The defendants were not named and were described only as citizens of the Emirates and other Gulf states and Arab countries. They faced charges including traveling abroad to join the IS group.

The seven-state Emirates federation is part of the U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group.
