OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A mental health facility is suing the Oklahoma City School District after the district declined to renew its contract.
Positive Changes held the contract for 10 years to provide education services to children with psychiatric problems. The facility filed the federal lawsuit alleging retaliation by the district because the facility reported three possible child abuse or neglect incidents involving district teachers and civil rights violations for alleged discrimination against students with mental illness.
The district denied the allegations. In a statement to The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/1log0dX ) the district said the contract was not renewed because Positive Changes failed to honor the contract and was unable to provide a safe teaching and learning environment.
School officials said student privacy issues prevent them from discussing the incidents involved in the retaliation complaint.
