GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — Three conservative school board members in suburban Denver who drew the ire of teachers and students for considering a review of a U.S. history course to emphasize patriotism will face a recall election Nov. 3.

Jeffco United for Action, the group behind the recall efforts, has also expressed anger at what they say is a lack of transparency by the officials they're trying to recall in Jefferson County.

The three members facing recall are Ken Witt, John Newkirk, and Julie Williams.

KUSA-TV reports (http://goo.gl/u36YjZ ) that the county clerk set the Nov. 3 election date on Thursday. That's the same day as the general election. A special election would have cost the school district $500,000.

The officials facing recall say they're proud of their accomplishments and cite pay raises for teachers as one of them.
