MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Police have searched parts of the Madison campus of the University of Wisconsin and found no one with a weapon after receiving a call from a man who said he had a firearm in the library.
Campus Police Lt. Aaron Chapin said buildings in the area were emptied including a popular union terrace where students and others were sitting outside.
He said that after a 3 ½-hour search no one was found and normal activities resumed.
Chapin said the majority of campus is closed for the July Fourth holiday.
Police said they were investigating the incident as a hoax.
