ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An Elko man has been sentenced to back-to-back life prison terms for molesting two young boys when he was a teenager.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://bit.ly/1c92hTj ) District Judge Nancy Porter sentenced 22-year-old Devon Hockemier on Thursday.
The man pleaded guilty to two lewdness charges this year. The prosecution and defense argued whether the counts, which each have a mandatory life sentence, should run concurrently or consecutively.
Charging documents allege that Hockemier sexually assaulted two boys who were around the ages of 5 and 10, over a six-month period. He turned 18 years old during that time.
The judge said she didn't believe Hockemier fully understood the impact that his decisions had on his victims.
Hockemier apologized to the victims, who weren't in the courtroom, and their parents.
