NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a feud stemming from the late 1990s ended in bloodshed when a gunfight broke out at a Brooklyn wake.

Police say 28 shell casings have been recovered from outside the Pentecostal church where two people were killed and four others injured Monday night.

Police say 40-year-old Sharieff Clayton, of the Bronx, and 44-year-old Ronald Murphy, of Brooklyn, were killed.

They say between 40 and 50 people had gathered to remember a 38-year-old man who died of natural causes.

Witnesses told investigators Clayton and another 40-year-old man encountered each other at the wake and argued. Police say the man left the church and returned in a silver car with two other men before the shooting began.

Police didn't detail the nature of their long-running dispute.
