WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a man was stabbed in the head when he and another man fought in a dorm at a Wilmington college.

Troopers were called to Leach Hall at Goldey Beacom College early Friday. Authorities say the victim, a 19-year-old man, tried to break up a fight between 19-year-old Tykee Hyland of Wilmington and Hyland's girlfriend, a student who lives in Leach Hall.

Police say during the fight, Hyland got a steak knife and stabbed the victim in the head. The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Hyland was arrested and charged with assault.

Goldey Beacom president-elect Gary Wirt tells The News Journal of Wilmington that the two men involved in the fight are not students.
