CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nine projects to help preserve and project Lake Tahoe have been awarded grant funding from the Nevada Division of State Lands.
The grant money comes from the sale of Lake Tahoe specialty license plates that last year generated $350,000.
State officials announced grant recipients on Tuesday.
Money will help support the East Shore Express, a transit service between Incline Village and Sand Harbor that runs during the busy summer months.
Other projects will target control of evasive species in the lake and monitoring environmental indicators that influence nearshore lake clarity.
Officials say the Lake Tahoe license plates have generated more than $6.7 million since they became available in 1998. The proceeds have funded about 100 projects.
