Obama-UConn
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has congratulated the University of Connecticut's men's and women's basketball teams on winning last week's NCAA tournaments.
The White House says Obama commended men's head coach Kevin Ollie and his team on their decisive championship victory and noted how he enjoyed watching them throughout the tournament. He told women's head coach Geno Auriemma (aw-ree-EH'-muh) how impressive it was to see the team continue to dominate women's collegiate basketball.
The women's team, undefeated this season, won a record ninth championship. The men's team triumphed after an unexpected run under a neophyte coach.
Obama told both coaches that he looked forward to congratulating their teams at the White House soon.
Obama had picked Michigan State to win on the men's side but stuck with UConn for the women's championship.
Auto Show-Mustang
NEW YORK (AP) — Ford is building a limited-edition Mustang GT to honor the pony car's 50th anniversary.
The company will only build 1,964 special cars, honoring the year the Mustang first went on sale.
The 50 Year Limited Edition will come in one of the two colors of Ford's logo: white or blue. Buyers can choose a manual or automatic transmission.
There are special chrome highlights around the grille, windows and tail lights. The Limited Edition will also be the only 2015 Mustang with a faux gas cap badge on the rear, where the original cap sat.
Limited Edition cars will be among the first built when 2015 Mustang production begins later this year.
Ford is showing the Limited Edition at the New York auto show, which begins this week. Pricing wasn't announced.
New SAT
WASHINGTON (AP) — Anxious students — not to mention their parents — can get a heads-up for how the redesigned SAT might look in two years.
Sample questions for the new version of the college-entrance test are being released Wedne by the College Board. The nonprofit association announced last month that the new test will include real-world applications and require more analysis.
One sample question asks test takers to calculate what it would cost an American traveling in India to convert dollars to rupees. Another question requires the test taker to use the findings of a political survey to answer questions.
The College Board says that all the information about the redesigned test being rolled out in 2016 is in draft form and subject to change.
Amish Undercover
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania police officer says he went undercover dressed as an Amish woman in hopes of scaring off a man suspected of exposing himself to Amish children.
Pulaski Township Sgt. Chad Adams spent much of December and January in Amish attire.
The group agreed to lend the police women's bonnets, aprons and dresses to catch or scare away the suspect because they don't want their children to testify in court.
A female officer dressed as an Amish woman also worked with Adams.
Adams says police haven't been able to charge the man because of a lack of evidence, but believe he is the same person who was sentenced to house arrest in January for similar incidents in another county.
Adams revealed the investigation because the incidents have stopped.
