OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The NBA's Western Conference final opened last night in Oakland with the Warriors beating the visiting Rockets 110-106. Houston rocketed out to a 16-point first-half lead but could not contain league MVP Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry, who finished with 34 points, including two free throws in the final seconds. Game 2 in the series will be in Oakland tomorrow night.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Hawks and Cavaliers jump-start the NBA's Eastern Conference final tonight in Atlanta. During the regular season the Hawks took 3 of 4 games with Cleveland. The Cavs advanced by eliminating the Bulls while the Hawks knocked off Washington.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA draft lottery was last night and the winning team was Minnesota. The Timberwolves, who already feature the league's Rookie of the Year in Andrew Wiggins, will have the right to pick first in the upcoming NBA draft. It's the first time since 2004 the team with the worst record has won the lottery.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Lightning are hosting the Rangers in the third game of the NHL's Eastern Conference final tonight. They split the opening two games in New York and Game 4 will be played in Tampa in two nights.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The best-of-seven NHL Western final is even at one win apiece. The Blackhawks outlasted the Ducks in Anaheim, California, last night to win in triple overtime, 3-2. The Hawks thought they had won it on a goal by Andrew Shaw midway through the second OT, but replay officials ruled Shaw had directed the puck into the net with his head, which is a no-no.
