NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Pelicans say they have waived 7-foot center Justin Hamilton, who never appeared any of the six games he spent with New Orleans since being acquired in a three-team trade.

Hamilton, a former LSU standout, joined the Pelicans on Feb. 19, along with guard Norris Cole and forward Shawne Williams, who was also waived, as part of a three-team trade involving Miami and Phoenix.

Hamilton appeared in 24 games this season with Miami, averaging 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

A 2012 second-round draft choice by Philadelphia, Hamilton has appeared in 32 career NBA games with Miami and Charlotte, averaging 2.9 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Hamilton has also played overseas in Croatia and Latvia, and last season was an NBA Development League All-Star.
