PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — In a story April 23 about a legal dispute over the nation's oldest synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island, The Associated Press reported that leaders of New York's Congregation Shearith Israel sued in 2012.
Newport's Congregation Jeshuat Israel was first to file a lawsuit in the matter, suing Congregation Shearith Israel in November 2012 in Rhode Island. Congregation Shearith Israel sued a week later in New York, and countersued in Rhode Island the following month.
