UNDATED (AP) — The Golden State Warriors opened their NBA playoff schedule by carrying a 25-point lead into the fourth quarter before holding off New Orleans 106-99. Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry scored 34 points and Klay Thompson chipped in 21 to help the Warriors withstand Anthony Davis' game-high 35 points for the Pelicans. Also in the Western Conference playoffs, James Harden delivered 24 points and Corey Brewer scored 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter of Houston's 118-108 victory against Dallas.

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards have won their opening games in the NBA's Eastern Conference quarterfinals. Jimmy Butler poured in 25 points and Derrick Rose added 23 and seven assists as the Bulls downed Milwaukee 103-91. Paul Pierce scored five of his 20 points in overtime to lead the Wizards' 93-86 win at Toronto.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning have squared their respective Stanley Cup first-round series at a game apiece. Sidney Crosby scored twice in a three-goal second period that pushed the Pens past the Rangers 4-3 in New York. Tyler Johnson also had a two-goal game and Ben Bishop earned his first playoff win by turning back 23 shots in the Lightning's 5-1 rout of the Red Wings.

UNDATED (AP) — St. Louis and Minnesota are knotted at a game apiece in their Stanley Cup first-round series after Vladimir Tarasenko registered his first career hat trick in the Blues' 4-1 triumph over the Wild. Tarasenko scored twice in a 4:43 span of the first period and completed his hat trick with an empty-netter. And Jakob Silfverberg scored with just 21 seconds remaining to give Anaheim a 2-1 victory and a two-games-to-none lead over Winnipeg.

CHICAGO (AP) — Kris Bryant collected his first two major league hits and reached base five times in the Chicago Cubs' 7-6, 11-inning win over San Diego. Bryant's first hit was an RBI single, and he also had an infield single in the 11th before Starlin Castro won it with a single. Bryant was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his big league debut on Friday.
