AMERICAN FORK — Crews battled a fast-moving brush fire in American Fork near the FrontRunner station and I-15 Pioneer Crossing exit on Tuesday.

In a press release on Wednesday, American Fork Fire and Rescue said the fire was found on both sides of the ramp and was "rapidly spreading in multiple directions."

Crews responded to slow the spread of the flames and protect nearby infrastructure. Since the fire was moving toward the FrontRunner and railroad tracks, there was a temporary shutdown of FrontRunner Utah Transit Authority service, Union Pacific rail operations and the freeway on-ramp to provide crews with safe access and enable effective fire suppression efforts, officials said.

A bus bridge was briefly established between Lehi and Vineyard.

Video sent to KSL shows large smoke and flames towering over a field that sits adjacent to I-15 near Pioneer Crossing.

"Due to the size and complexity of the incident, additional resources from multiple surrounding agencies were requested," officials wrote in the release.

Crews quickly gained control of the fire, followed by mop-up operations to ensure it was fully extinguished and that no further spread occurred. Acreage burned was not indicated.

American Fork fire officials said no one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
