HERRIMAN — Investigators believe a man killed his former wife before killing himself in Herriman Friday, police said.

About 7:15 p.m., Herriman police responded to 4596 W. Watchmen Way for a welfare check requested by family members. Officers entered the home and located two deceased adults, police said.

The woman, 42, had injuries consistent with "blunt force trauma." The 55-year-old man's death was "determined to be self-inflicted," police announced Saturday. Their identities have not been released, but police said the man was the ex-husband of the woman, and he did not reside at the residence.

The bodies were turned over to the medical examiner's office.

Herriman police said family members of the woman had been trying to contact her for several hours before they requested police do a welfare check.

"There is no history of reported domestic violence incidents between the victim and suspect in Herriman city," police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
