SPRINGVILLE — The person killed in Monday's four-car collison in Springville has been identified by police as the founder of the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork.

Springville Police Chief Lance Haight identified the man as Christopher Charu Warden, 79, president of Utah Krishnas.

The Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple shared the news with members in a post on Facebook Tuesday afternoon of Warden's (Caru Prabhuji's) passing.

"With profound grief and heavy hearts, we share an extremely devastating news that our beloved spiritual guide & mentor, HG Caru Prabhuji (Caru Utah) has left his body. Prabhuji dedicated his entire life in loving service to Sri Sri Radha Krishna and Srila Prabhupdada. Through his humility, compassion, and deep devotion, he touched and transformed the lives of so many. His words, example, and association will continue to inspire us on the path of Krishna consciousness.

"At this time, we humbly request all devotees to kindly offer your heartfelt prayers for his continued service at the lotus feet of the Lord & for the community to gather strength," the temple said.

Police said about 2:20 p.m., a car traveling south on Main Street was approaching 1400 North when it somehow veered out of its lane and collided with oncoming traffic. The crash impacted four cars.

Police and medical personnel responded to render aid, but the driver of the car traveling south died; the occupants of the other vehicles sustained injuries that did not appear life-threatening and were taken to a hospital.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the driver who did not survive this tragic accident," Haight said in a statement.

The crash remains under investigation.
