ST. GEORGE — BYU football wide receiver Parker Trent Kingston went to a woman's residence in St. George nearly a year ago with the intent to have sex with her, despite her saying she was not interested in that, according to prosecutors.

Kingston, 21, was charged Wednesday in 5th District Court with rape, a first-degree felony. The court documents were unsealed on Thursday following Kingston's arrest in Provo on Wednesday. By Wednesday afternoon he had been transferred to the Washington County Jail in Hurricane.

Police say Kingston went to a 20-year-old woman's residence during the early morning hours of Feb. 23, 2025. Charging documents do not say how Kingston and the woman knew each other or if they were previously acquainted.

The woman told police that prior to his arrival and during "their online communication, she told Kingston multiple times that she did not want to have sex with him, and if that was the reason he wanted to meet up, he should not come. (She) disclosed that she set clear boundaries with Kingston prior to their meetup," the charges state.

After arriving at the woman's residence, the two watched a movie. "While watching the movie, they began to engage in some sexual activity," the charges state.

Kingston then started to fall asleep, and the woman left the room to get ready for bed.

"When she returned approximately 15 minutes later, Kingston initiated sexual activity again. (She) stated that she told Kingston to stop several times and tried to push him off of her," but he continued, the charges allege.

The woman reported the alleged assault four days later to police after going to St. George Regional Hospital.

"Detectives with the St. George Police Department then gathered digital and forensic evidence. They also conducted interviews with the parties involved and other witnesses. The information was then turned over to the Washington County Attorney's Office for review," according to the county attorney's office.

She met with the Washington County Attorney's Office in June for another interview.

When Kingston was questioned by investigators, he said all activity with the woman was consensual. "Based on communications obtained from Kingston's cellphone after the incident, it can be inferred that he went to her apartment with the intention of having sexual intercourse," prosecutors wrote in charging documents.

Brigham Young University said it learned about the arrest on Wednesday.

"The university takes any allegation very seriously and will cooperate with law enforcement," read the statement from BYU, which espouses an honor code that (among other things) requires students to abstain from sexual relations outside of marriage. "Due to federal and university privacy laws and practices for students, the university will not be able to provide additional comment."

Kingston, originally from Layton, is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The rising senior had a team-high 928 receiving yards and five touchdowns last year, in addition to returning 17 punts for 230 yards and a touchdown for the 12-2 Cougars.

Shortly after the team's 25-21 win over Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Kingston — who would've been eligible to enter the NFL draft — was among the first of a large wave of players to announce he was returning to Provo for his final year of college eligibility.

Kingston was in Provo as recently as Saturday, when he sat courtside with another woman during the BYU men's basketball game against Houston. During a timeout, the star wideout pointed to a ring on the woman's left hand, indicating they were engaged.

The couple posted photos of the engagement on Instagram a few days later, but the post was deleted by Wednesday afternoon.
