PLEASANT GROVE — The Utah County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found at the base of Battle Creek Falls.
The discovery was made by some hikers at about 10 a.m. Friday. Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said investigators believe the victim is a woman in her 20s who lives in Utah County.
Cannon said investigators are at the scene to determine how the woman died, but it is believed she hadn't been there long before being discovered. The woman's body showed some indication of an injury, but it is unknown whether that came from a fall or just the cold of the water, Cannon said.
Cannon noted the falls have been the scene for several search and rescue efforts in the past. Because the incident occurred in running water, Cannon said it is harder to collect evidence but the sheriff's office will look downstream to see if they can learn more about what happened.
The trail is open to hikers, but the incident is still under investigation.
