SPANISH FORK — One man was killed and another was critically injured in a head-on crash on U.S. 6 Monday night.

Emergency responders were dispatched to a crash at 3350 East U.S. 6 shortly after 10 p.m., according to a news release from Spanish Fork Police Lt. Cory Slaymaker.

Witnesses told authorities that a car traveling west on the highway drove left of center colliding head-on with a tow truck that was traveling east.

The driver of the westbound car was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene, Slaymaker said. A second male passenger in the car was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the tow truck was not injured in the crash, Slaymaker said.

Authorities reported Tuesday that the deceased is a 36-year-old man from Spanish Fork and the injured passenger is the 35-year-old brother of the deceased. No updates on the younger man's condition have been released.

Police are attempting to notify family members before releasing the brothers' names, Slaymaker said.

U.S. 6 was closed for several hours after the crash as authorities investigated the accident.
