SALT LAKE CITY — The new 2023-2024 Broadway at the Eccles season features several musicals with songs from some of the biggest artists in the music industry.

The seven-show season is jam-packed with top songs from the record charts.

"MJ" (playing Feb. 27-March 3, 2024) centers around the making of Michael Jackson's legendary 1992 Dangerous World Tour, and includes fan favorites like "Beat It," "Billie Jean," "Thriller" and many more. "MJ" offers a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit of the pop icon.

"Girl From North Country" (June 11-16, 2024) reimagines 20 legendary Bob Dylan songs, including "Forever Young," "All Along the Watchtower," "Hurricane," "Slow Train Coming" and "Like a Rolling Stone." The production is about a group of wayward travelers whose lives intersect in a guesthouse filled with music, life and hope.

And "Mamma Mia" (Dec. 19-24, 2023) is essentially a greatest hits album for ABBA. It includes songs like "Dancing Queen," "Super Trouper," "Thank You for the Music," and more. It is a story of a girl's quest to discover the father she's never known as her wedding on a Greek island paradise approaches.

And although it's not a jukebox musical, "Hamilton" (playing July 31-Sept. 1, 2024) topped the music charts as well with its blend of hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway. "Hamilton" has taken the story of an American founding father and created a revolutionary moment in theater.

The rock-concert vibe of the 2023-2024 Broadway at the Eccles season continues with the premiere of "Six" (Jan. 9-21, 2024). This 80-minute show with no intermission gives the mic to the six wives of Henry VIII as they remix 500 years of historical heartbreak. The production's live Broadway album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard cast album charts and surpassed six million streams in its first month.

The season starts with "My Fair Lady," the Lincoln Center production that won the 2018 Tony Award for best revival of a musical. The musical runs Nov. 12-18. Boasting classing songs as "I Could Have Danced All Night," "The Rain in Spain" and "On the Street Where You Live," the production tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller and her linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into a proper lady.

The 2023-2024 Broadway at the Eccles season also includes the premiere of "Pretty Woman: The Musical" (running April 2-7, 2024). Based on one of Hollywood's most beloved romantic stories of all time, the musical features an original score by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

"Broadway has become the hottest ticket in Salt Lake City," said Victor Hamburger, vice president of Mountain for Broadway Across America. "We really have something for everyone this year."

Hamburger said touring Broadway shows continue to be an economic engine for downtown Salt Lake City, with more than $150 million in economic impact since reopening in the fall of 2021.
