AT HOME — A recent TikTok challenge asked broadcast journalists to use their "reporter voice" to report on everyday things — this mom knocked it out of the park.
The challenge was issued in mid-January by broadcast journalist and comedian Tabitha Lipkin.
"In your very best news anchor voice, I would love to hear you narrate you doing something super mundane around the house," she said on TikTok. She then used her "voice" to report on loading her dishwasher. She then uses a classic news technique, teasing to the next segment via an implication that the dishes may not even get clean to keep viewers interested. "Stay with us to find out."
It's cute and all, but it's another broadcast journalist who really took the challenge and made it into something sparkling and joyous.

Kayla Marie Sullivan accepted the challenge, reporting on the temper tantrum her son had at the Olive Garden earlier that day. Dressed in full reporter hair, makeup and regalia, she uses her son's toy microphone and launches into her report.
As you've now seen in the video, Sullivan's reporter voice and story are so spot-on, self-deprecating and funny that it's no wonder her video garnered around 5.6 million likes in a week and a half. It even prompted a series of follow-up videos, including an interview with her toddler and a report on the difference between a "toddler tornado watch and a toddler tornado warning."
