SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating after a man's body was found in the Jordan River on Wednesday.
A passerby saw the body in the river near 1300 W. North Temple, west of the Utah State Fairpark, about noon Wednesday, according to Salt Lake police detective Michael Ruff.
The body was on the bank of the river but was submerged enough that the fire department was called to the scene to retrieve the man, Ruff said.
No vehicles were found in the area and police don't know how long the body was there, Ruff said. Investigators are treating the discovery of the body as suspicious because it was found in the river, he added. Medical examiners will be determining the man's cause of death, he said.
The man who died was not identified. Further details weren't released on Wednesday.
