DRAPER — One man died after crashing his car on I-15 on Monday, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
According to a press release, around 5 p.m. a Suzuki SX4 was traveling southbound on I-15 near 12800 South when the driver veered left and struck a concrete barrier. After striking the barrier, the car then crossed all lanes and struck the concrete barrier on the right side of the road. Utah Highway Patrol said that the driver of the vehicle was the sole occupant of the car and it is not known what caused him to veer into the concrete barrier.
The release stated that the driver was found unresponsive on the scene; he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. UHP said that it was indicated the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The man was identified on Tuesday as Kenneth Snarr, 77, of West Jordan.
Utah Department of Transportation tweeted around 6:44 p.m. Monday that all lanes were closed at 12900 South. Around 7 p.m. UDOT notified drivers that southbound HOV and three left lanes on I-15 at 12900 South were open, but the right three lanes remained closed.
All lanes were opened around 8:20 p.m., according to UDOT.
