STANSBURY PARK, Tooele County — A rollover crash on I-80 in Tooele County left one man dead and another individual injured on Thursday, officials said.
The crash took place on the eastbound side of I-80 near mile marker 92, several miles west of Stansbury Park, Utah Highway Patrol officials said on Twitter. UHP first reported the crash about 2:30 p.m.
The vehicle, a green Chevrolet traveling east, drifted off the roadway to the left side, the Department of Public Safety reported. The driver over-corrected, swerved off of the road to the right, and proceeded to roll multiple times along the south shoulder.
The accident left Nephi J. Wayman, 30, who was a passenger in the front seat, fatally injured. The Department of Public Safety said the driver was flown to the University of Utah hospital in critical condition. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, officials said.
Editor's note: The Utah Highway Patrol initially identified the person who died in this crash as Nathan Wayman and later updated his first name to Nephi. It has been corrected in this story.
