SALT LAKE CITY — Part of U.S. Highway 89 in Box Elder County was closed Thursday morning due to a pole fire reopened, officials said.
The highway shut down near 8600 South, according to a Facebook post from the Box Elder Communications Center. The highway reopened later in the morning, officials said via Facebook.
The highway reopened after Rocky Mountain Power crews worked to repair the pole. However, the road may be closed again when crews install a new pole later in the day, the post said.
Power remains out for about 750 customers in Farr West, Perry, Pleasant View and Willard. That number is down from 2,267 earlier.
Power originally was expected to be restored about 9:30 a.m. but that has been extended to 11:30 a.m., according to a tweet from the company. As of 7 p.m., power was restored for all customers.
Separately, power was restored to 2,894 customers in College Ward, Logan, Mendon, Nibley, Wellsville and Young Ward about 6:30 a.m. Equipment problems at a substation caused that outage, Rocky Mountain Power said.
