Fire officials: Significant growth expected on Pole Creek Fire over next days

SPANISH FORK — A lightning-caused fire in Juab County has grown to 75 acres, officials report.

The Pole Creek Fire, located in the Nebo Loop area south of Summit Trail #113, was burning an estimated 25 acres on Monday and grew by approximately 50 acres by Tuesday evening, according to a news release tweeted by Utah Fire Info.

“Growth is expected to increase significantly with the high winds expected this afternoon and over the next several days,” the release read.

Fire officials added that smoke will visible from parts of I-15 and surrounding communities.

Crews are working to minimize fire spread to the east of Nebo Loop Road, south and west of Summit Trail #113 and north of Pole Canyon. While the area is not closed to the public officials said warn forest users to be cautious and avoid the fire area.

The area is not closed for recreation, but visitors were asked to be cautious and avoid the fire area, the release read.
