SALT LAKE CITY — Derrick Favors, the Utah Jazz's longest-tenured player, is going to be around at least a little bit longer.

Favors agreed to terms with the Jazz on a two-year contract on Monday, ending the first unrestricted free agency of his career by choosing to stay with his current team.

The deal could earn Favors up to $36 million, though the second year is non-guaranteed according to multiple media reports. It appears that Favors chose to take on a deal with less long-term security but with a higher average annual salary. Yahoo's Shams Charania reported that Favors' deal has a base salary of $16 million per year, which could go to just over $18 million with incentives.

Favors averaged 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds in 28 minutes per game last year for the Jazz, playing a majority of his minutes at the center position. He's been on the Jazz since 2011, when he was traded to Utah as part of the Deron Williams deal from the New Jersey Nets.

Utah's Dante Exum and Raul Neto are still free agents, and the Jazz still have the non-taxpayer mid-level exception (worth about $9 million per season) available to use on an outside free-agent. The Jazz chose not to waive Thabo Sefolosha by Sunday night's deadline, guaranteeing his contract for the 2018-19 season.
