WEST VALLEY CITY — A man is in serious condition after a shooting in West Valley City on Friday afternoon that police say involved the man's brother.
The shooting took place near 3500 W. 4560 South at about 4:40 p.m., according to West Valley City police Lt. Steve Burke.
Police arrived about 2 minutes later and found a man in his mid-20s who had been shot at least twice, Burke said. He had injuries to his shoulder and chest, and was taken to a hospital.
The man’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, but he was in serious condition, Burke said. Footage from KSL’s Chopper 5 showed a passenger car near the scene that had several bullet holes in the windshield.
About 20 minutes after the shooting, a 17-year-old man who police believe is the man’s brother returned to the scene. He was not injured and was taken into custody about 5:03 p.m., Burke said.
Burke did not know if the two men had any prior criminal history. He did not provide any further details on the circumstances of the shooting.
