SOUTH SALT LAKE — A teenager was hospitalized in serious condition after a shooting late Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed.

Shots were fired at 300 E. 3100 South, according to Salt Lake police dispatchers. A teenage boy was standing near the sidewalk when he was struck, according to South Salt Lake police detective Gary Keller.

The teen was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

It is unclear who the shooter was or if the shooter was in a car, Keller added.

Police closed 300 East from 3000 South to 3200 South for several hours as police continued to investigate the shooting, Keller said. The road was opened shortly after 10 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, Keller said late Tuesday night.
