LAYTON — A man wanted for attempted murder in connection with a Layton shooting was arrested Tuesday in Nevada, police said.
Eddie Angelo Samora, 31, of Salt Lake City, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a restricted person Oct. 27 and was arrested Tuesday evening in Sparks, Nevada, after a brief car chase, according to a Facebook post from the Layton Police Department.
Layton police worked with the Salt Lake Area Gang Project and the U.S. Marshals Service to track Samora down. They are currently working to bring him back to Utah.

Samora went to a Layton apartment complex at 1667 N. Avalon Drive [on Oct. 26](https://www.ksl.com/?sid=46187293&nid=148) and shot a man multiple times, even while the man lay helpless on the ground, police said.
When Layton police arrived at the scene, they found Andy Cabrera, 37, inside the apartment, laying on his back bleeding from the torso. Cabrera soon went unconscious, according to a search warrant affidavit.
Cabrera had just been released from prison two days prior and the mother of his children was dating Samora, according to investigators. One of Cabrera's friends told officers that Cabrera was going to confront Samora about hitting his children, according to a warrant.
Cabrera has since been released from the hospital.
Samora was named Public Enemy No. 1 by the Salt Lake Metro Gang Unit in 2007 after police said Samora shot another man in the shoulder while driving on I-215. He was later arrested, convicted and sentenced to 125 months in prison.
Samora was also convicted of a carjacking in the Rose Park area the same year and plead guilty to aggravated assault in exchange for a charge of attempted homicide being drop, according to court records. He was sentenced to one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison.
