SALT LAKE CITY — A ramp from northbound I-215 to I-80 eastbound in Parley’s Canyon reopened Saturday afternoon, Utah Department of Transportation officials said.
The agency is confident the area is safe, UDOT official John Gleason said. A 16-inch water main line broke shortly before 11:15 a.m. near Wasatch Blvd., which runs adjacent to the freeway in the area.

The break sprayed large amounts of water onto the roadway and caused erosion damage to a hillside nearby. Crews were able to stop that flow of water about 30 minutes after responding to the break on Friday.
A barrier has been placed on the hill to make sure that no debris falls onto the road, Gleason said. UDOT crews will remain on scene for some time today to make sure the area stays safe.
Two lanes of the freeway were closed on Friday, and UDOT originally thought the ramp might be closed through the whole weekend.
By 6:30 p.m. Friday, the pipe had been completely repaired.
The cause of the break remains under investigation. The pipe was installed in 1978, but officials said they didn’t think the pipe’s age was a factor in the break.
