SALT LAKE CITY — Three more fun sports stories in today's From Left Field!

Utah's Steve Smith returns to Taco Bell

Steve Smith Sr., a 16-year NFL player and former University of Utah attendee, spent some of his high school and junior college life working at Taco Bell in southern California.

But to help promote his new role as a NFL Network analyst, Smith went back to work there for a few hours. For The Win has the story, but here's one fun passage:

"The drive-thru at rush hour is really just like a two-minute drill," Smith told For The Win by phone this week. "You’re going to make some mistakes. You’re going to mis-hear the order, or mis-hear the play, and you’ve just got to shake it off, man. You’ve got to get to the next customer or get to the next play."

Bryce Harper's new haircut

Bryce Harper, the Mormon right fielder for the Washington Nationals, turned some heads this week when he selected this unique, throwback look for his famous locks:

Bat trip

Ian Happ wasn't going to beat out this grounder for a single anyway, but he didn't exactly help himself when he dropped the bat on his legs, causing him to trip and fall on the way to first base:

The only safe solution: ostentatious bat flipping.
