SALT LAKE CITY — A woman reported missing since Sunday was found dead near her house Tuesday close to a popular trail in the Avenues.

Becky Lewis, 72, was last seen in the area of 500 East and 14th Avenue about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Her husband reported her missing. Officers out looking for her discovered her body close to her house early Tuesday morning shortly after midnight, said Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking.

Lewis' body was found close to her home, but she was in an area not visible from the main hiking trail, he said.

Wilking said there were no obvious signs of trauma on Lewis' body, and her death is not considered suspicious. The case, however, will remain open pending autopsy results, he said.
