URBANA, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State University and the University of Illinois say they have created a partnership to help ISU get the most out of research it believes could help build the state's economy.
The two schools announced the new partnership Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Illinois State will pay the University of Illinois to help identify, patent and license new intellectual property developed by ISU faculty that could lead to new companies and products. The University of Illinois also will hold workshops intended to help ISU faculty identify commercial possibilities in research opportunities.
Illinois State University President Larry Dietz said the partnership will give ISU access to the University of Illinois' "highly developed" infrastructure.
University of Illinois Vice President for Research Lawrence Schook said similar deals are being discussed with other schools.
